About Us

Who We Are

siegetechnologies.com is an independent security research publication covering digital sovereignty, enterprise privacy architecture, threat intelligence, and the cryptographic infrastructure that underpins modern digital autonomy.

We are the successor publication to Siege Technologies, the former U.S. cybersecurity firm that specialized in offensive and defensive cyber operations, vulnerability research, and advanced software development for the U.S. defense and intelligence community.

We are not the original Siege Technologies entity. That firm no longer operates under this name. This domain was acquired and repurposed as an independent editorial publication. Our research team has no affiliation with, and makes no claim to represent, the original company or its former clients.

What we inherited is a domain with a documented history in the security research space — one that we believe carries a responsibility. Our editorial mission is to publish technically rigorous, independently evaluated content on the security and privacy infrastructure that enterprises and individuals depend on.

Reliable IT & Cyber Security

Our Editorial Mission

The security and privacy software market is saturated with vendor-written “reviews,” affiliate-driven “best-of” lists, and content that prioritizes commission over accuracy. Enterprise buyers have learned to distrust it — and rightly so.

Our editorial approach is built on three principles:

  1. Technical rigor over marketing language. We evaluate encryption standards, key management models, jurisdiction of the operating entity, and independently audited claims. We do not repeat vendor specifications without verification.
  2. Honest monetization. We earn affiliate commissions when readers purchase through some of our links. We disclose this on every monetized page, above the fold. We also include non-monetized alternatives in every comparison and state clearly when we earn nothing from a recommendation.
  3. Correction over defensiveness. When we get something wrong, we correct it publicly and log the change. See our Editorial Policy for our correction process.

How We Make Money

Transparency here is not optional for us — it is the foundation of our credibility.

We earn revenue through:

  • Affiliate commissions. When a reader clicks certain product links and makes a purchase, we may earn a commission. This costs the reader nothing extra.
  • Sponsored research (clearly labeled). On occasion, we publish research commissioned by a vendor. All such content is labeled at the top of the page and does not appear in our independent comparison tables.

We do not:

  • Sell user data
  • Accept payment for placement in comparison tables
  • Allow vendors to review or approve independent evaluations before publication
  • Publish invented author personas or fabricated credentials
  • Hide affiliate relationships from readers

Full details are in our Editorial Policy and Affiliate Disclosure.

The Siege Technologies Name: A Note on History

We are sometimes asked about the domain’s history. The original Siege Technologies was a real U.S. cybersecurity firm. It received public attention in 2017 when WikiLeaks’ “Vault 7” disclosures named the company in connection with the CIA’s “Athena” malware framework for Windows systems.

That history is documented in the public record and referenced by major news outlets, technical publications, and academic sources. We do not erase it, and we do not claim it as our own work.

Our position: the domain’s history is context, not credibility. Whatever authority this publication earns going forward will come from the quality of our research, the rigor of our methodology, and the trust of our readers — not from association with events that occurred before this publication existed.
